Frequently Asked Questions

Training

Are your management and leadership courses accredited?

Our programmes are not accredited by a formal awarding body, and that’s very deliberate.

Accreditation can bring unnecessary rigidity, outdated content, and additional costs, all of which can get in the way of what really matters: creating leaders who drive real impact.

Instead, we focus on high-performance development that’s flexible, evidence-based and completely tailored to your specific needs and desired outcomes. We’re real-world experts, and our programmes are designed to be agile, practical and deeply relevant, not just theoretical. We measure success by the behaviour change and business outcomes our clients see, not by assessment results or certificates.

There is definitely a place for accredited courses, we have delivered and written content for both ILM and CMI in the past, so we know their value, particularly if you are at the start of your career. So, if a nationally recognised certificate confirming knowledge to a certain level is what you’re looking for, then we may not be the right fit for you. However, if you’re looking for transformation, challenge, and highly confident and competent managers and leaders, then we’d love to talk.

Are your management and leadership courses fixed, or can they be tailored to our needs?

The short answer is yes, we can tailor them... and then some!

While we offer several tried-and-tested leadership and management programmes, nothing we do is ever “off the shelf” in the traditional sense. We’ve built these courses based on what we know works, but we also know that every organisation is different. Different people, different challenges, different cultures. That’s why flexibility is built into everything we do.

We can adapt our existing programmes in any number of ways:

Content: Want more focus on strategic thinking, emotional intelligence or courageous conversations? Done.

Duration: Need a condensed sprint or a deeper, modular journey? We’ll shape it to fit.

Delivery: Prefer in-person, virtual, blended, or something immersive and experiential? No problem, you can trust us to make sure we deliver the format that’s right for you.

If you’re looking for something completely unique, we also design and deliver bespoke programmes from the ground up.  Whether you need to shift mindsets, embed new habits, or support a big transformation, we’ll partner with you to build something powerful, practical and 100% yours – all aligned with your organisational goals, values and leadership culture.

So, whether you're after a light refresh or a game-changing leadership experience, we’ll flex around you – not the other way around!

How much do your training programmes cost?

Because every programme we deliver is tailored to each client’s needs, our pricing isn’t one-size-fits-all. We don’t believe in generic solutions, so we don’t offer generic pricing.

The final cost of a programme will depend on a few key factors, including:

How much course design and customisation is needed to make it just right for your team. Resources and materials provided (e.g. workbooks, toolkits, digital content). Whether you’d like to include additional elements, such as:

  • Individual or group coaching

  • Strengthscope® profiling and feedback

  • Follow-up support or impact measurement, and travel costs, if we're delivering the programme in person outside our local area.

That said, we’re happy to give you a starting point. Our base rate for delivery starts at £2,400 + VAT per day, which includes:

  • Two expert facilitators — not just for variety, but to ensure every participant connects with someone who resonates with their style and experience.

  • A powerful blend of insight, energy and challenge, all grounded in real-world management and leadership experience, not just theory.

  • The flexibility to shape content and delivery around your culture, people, and goals.

We’ll always have an open and transparent conversation with you up front, so you know exactly what’s included and where your investment is going. As our programmes are built to deliver real behavioural change and performance impact, our clients find the upturn in employee engagement alone, ensures a valued return on investment.

If you'd like to explore options or get a tailored quote, we’d love to chat and learn more about what you're looking to achieve.

What kind of return on investment (ROI) can I expect from your programmes?

When you invest in management and leadership development, you're not just ticking a training box, you're building the capability, confidence and culture that drive high performance across your entire organisation.

Our programmes are designed to deliver real-world results by equipping managers and leaders with the tools to:

  • Manage themselves and others more effectively

  • Drive performance with clarity and confidence

  • Lead change with resilience and purpose Create environments where people feel engaged, valued and motivated

And when leaders do those things well, the ripple effects are huge – not just in terms of individual behaviour, but in team performance, employee engagement and business results.

The Data Behind the Impact

Don’t just take our word for it. In Gallup’s 2023 Meta-Analysis, which studied over 112,000 business units and 2.7 million employees, organisations with highly engaged employees experienced:

18% higher productivity
23% higher profitability
81% lower absenteeism
 66% higher employee well-being

These aren’t abstract stats – they’re a direct reflection of what happens when managers lead well, communicate clearly, and build trust and accountability in their teams. Gallup’s full report relating to employee engagement can be found here.

What Our Clients Typically See

Our clients often report tangible shifts in areas like:

  • Improved team morale and collaboration

  • Greater ownership and initiative from their managers

  • Reduced time spent firefighting or handling performance issues

  • More strategic thinking from leaders across all levels

  • A stronger, more aligned leadership culture

As we work with clients to define what success looks like upfront, we can also help you track the impact – whether that’s through behavioural change, engagement data, retention rates or business performance metrics.

ROI That’s About More Than Just Money

In addition to having a commercial impact, there’s also a deeper return as well:

  • Leaders who are more confident and capable

  • Teams who feel valued, supported and inspired

  • Organisations that are more resilient, agile and future-ready

In short, we help you unlock the kind of leadership that not only drives results but makes people want to stay, develop and thrive.

Want to Measure It? We’ll Help.

If tracking ROI is important to your business (and let’s face it, it probably is), using our FIREPROOF framework we can work with you to identify key performance and engagement indicators before the programme starts. We can then build in impact tracking, feedback loops and action plans and use tools like Strengthscope®, coaching feedback, or pulse surveys to measure behavioural shifts.

You’ll finish the journey not just confident in knowing that the content landed, but that it changed how people lead, think and act. As an added bonus all participants will receive a FIREPROOF Impact® endorsed certificate.

You’ll finish the journey not just confident in knowing that the content landed, but that it changed how people lead, think and act. As an added bonus all participants will receive a FIREPROOF Impact® endorsed certificate.

Will participants receive a certificate or evidence of CPD on completion of your training programmes?

In short, yes!

All our courses are developed using our FIREPROOF framework to ensure maximum impact, so at the end of each programme, every participant will receive a personalised FIREPROOF Impact® endorsed certificate stating the number of CPD hours completed.

How do I know which programme is right for my managers?

Great question — and one we get asked a lot! Choosing the right development path for your managers or leaders isn’t always straightforward, especially when different individuals or teams are at different stages in their journey.

Here’s how we help you get it right:

We offer two core pathways as a starting point:

  1. Our Management Programme

Perfect for new and emerging managers, or those who’ve had some experience managing but never received formal development. This course is all about building strong foundations, helping managers develop the confidence, clarity and core skills to:

  • Lead themselves and others effectively

  • Manage performance and hold meaningful conversations

  • Motivate their teams and deal with difficult situations

  • Support the role out of change initiatives

  • Juggle priorities without burning out

  • Start thinking like leaders (not just doers)

This programme is ideal if your managers are stepping up into leadership for the first time, or need help shifting from “task-focused” to “people-focused.”

  1. Our Leadership Programme

Designed for more experienced managers or existing leaders who are ready to take things to the next level. This course focuses on strategic leadership, enabling individuals to:

  • Lead through complexity and change

  • Think more broadly and influence across the business

  • Develop emotional intelligence and self-awareness

  • Create and communicate vision and direction

  • Inspire others, build culture and drive performance

  • Build habits that sustain high performance over the long-term

This is often the right choice for senior managers, heads of department, or those preparing for more senior leadership roles, especially when you're building succession pipelines or embedding cultural change.

Not sure where someone fits? No problem.

In reality, many organisations have managers and leaders at various stages and we’re well-versed in helping you figure out who needs what. We’ll work closely with you to understand your team’s context, experience levels and development goals. We can then recommend the right programme (or mix of content) based on real needs, or blend or adapt elements to suit your organisation, not just our model.

In fact, many clients choose to run both programmes in parallel or in succession, supporting managers as they step up, while also accelerating the capability of those already in leadership roles.

We focus on the impact, not the label - whether it’s “management” or “leadership,” our goal is the same: to help your people become more confident, capable and connected in how they lead themselves, others and the organisation.

Still not sure? Let’s have a chat! We’ll ask the right questions to help you decide and shape the programme that delivers maximum impact for your team.

Strengthscope

What is Strengthscope® and how does it work?

Strengthscope® is a strengths assessment tool that helps individuals identify what energises them at work - their natural strengths. Unlike traditional personality or performance assessments, this isn’t about fixing weaknesses. It’s about amplifying what you do best to boost performance, confidence, and engagement.

Participants complete an online questionnaire, which generates a report highlighting their top strengths, performance risks, and practical tips for using their strengths more effectively in the workplace.

We use the StrengthscopeLeader™ and the StrengthscopeTeam™ reports as a catalyst for reflection, self-awareness and powerful conversations, both in our leadership programmes and 1:1 coaching.

Why do you recommend using Strengthscope® in your programmes?

We believe high performance starts with self-awareness and Strengthscope® gives managers and leaders a clear, empowering view of what makes them tick.

It helps people:

  • Understand how to use their strengths intentionally

  • Avoid overusing or underusing strengths (yes, that’s a thing!)

  • Recognise what energises and drains them

  • Work more effectively with others who think and operate differently

These are all areas that can be developed through conversation and exploration but we find using Strengthscope® speeds up this process in a very insightful way, increasing the purposefulness and impact of your manager’s development.

How is it different from other personality or psychometric tools?

Great question – and one we get a lot!

Where many tools focus on personality types or behaviours, Strengthscope® is all about energy – what drives you and what you’re naturally great at (or have the potential to be great at). It’s a dynamic tool that helps people understand:

  • What they bring at their best

  • How to avoid potential derailers

  • How to collaborate more effectively

It’s positive, practical and actionable – people leave with a language and mindset they can apply immediately – not just a label. It’s also the ONLY Strengths based assessment tool recognised by the British Psychological Society.

Can we use Strengthscope® as a standalone tool, or only within your programmes?

Both!

While we often integrate Strengthscope® into leadership or team development programmes (because it adds huge depth), we also offer it as a standalone service, which can include:

  • Individual profiles with 1:1 debriefs

  • Team strengths mapping and facilitated workshops

  • Culture change or engagement projects with strengths as a foundation

If you're curious about how it could support your goals, just ask, we'll help you design the right approach.

How do you use the StrengthscopeTeam™ with ‘productive habits’ report?

To provide the team with detailed insight and clarity on their collective strengths and behaviours, enabling them to unlock their peak performance.

In addition to creating a Team Strengths Map that show the collective strengths and potential gaps of your team. This report also takes your team’s strengths data and translates it into a clear picture of how your team typically show up – the day-to-day behaviours that drive (or derail) performance, collaboration and energy.

While individual strengths tell us what energises each person, productive habits reveal how those strengths are being used across the team and whether they’re creating consistent, high-performance outcomes or friction and fatigue.

The report looks at 12 team habits that are commonly found in high-performing teams. These include things like:

  • Clear purpose and goals

  • Trust and psychological safety

  • Constructive challenge

  • Accountability

  • Celebrating success

The assessment tool gathers feedback from team members (via a short survey) about how often they see these habits playing out in their everyday work. The result? A data-backed snapshot of the team’s behavioural strengths and where things might be getting in the way.

The productive habits lens allows us to:

  • Understand team dynamics.

  • Build psychological safety.

  • Spot friction points that might be sapping time, energy or motivation.

  • Understand performance risks e.g. is a team full of strategic thinkers missing the habit of clarity and follow-through?

  • Create action plans for building better habits – habits that actually stick, because they align with what energises the team.

  • Celebrate what's already working, to keep momentum and morale high.

How do you use the StrengthscopeLeader™ report?

The StrengthscopeLeader™ report builds on the core Strengthscope® profile by combining insights about a leader’s unique energising strengths with their leadership habits and behaviours. It's designed specifically for those who are responsible for leading others – whether that’s a team, a function, or a whole organisation.

We use it to help leaders step into their best, most authentic version of leadership by playing to their strengths, becoming more aware of their impact, and building the habits that drive high performance and engagement.

While the basic Strengthscope® profile focuses on your top energising strengths and how they show up in your day-to-day work, the StrengthscopeLeader™ report goes further, adding layers specifically for leaders:

  • It explores leadership behaviours aligned to high performance

  • It highlights how well the leader is using their strengths in their leadership role

  • It identifies performance risks, including strengths in overdrive

  • It includes feedback from raters – colleagues, direct reports, line managers (360-style)

This combination gives a really rich, practical view of how a leader is experienced by others and how they can elevate their impact.

We typically use the StrengthscopeLeader™ report in one of two ways:

1. As a standalone leadership development tool to:

  • Build deep self-awareness

  • Reflect on how they currently lead and what energises them

  • Identify where their leadership habits are supporting or limiting success

  • Set meaningful personal goals that align with their strengths

2. As the cornerstone of a management or leadership development programme, where we integrate it into the early stages, so participants can benefit from all of the above, plus:

  • Use their strengths profile knowledge as a lens throughout the programme, giving consideration to their leadership style; how they lead change; manage conflict; manage team performance etc.

What kind of feedback does the StrengthscopeLeader™ report include?

It uses a structured 360 approach - the leader completes a self-assessment, and then they nominate raters (managers, peers, direct reports, etc.) to give anonymous feedback across a series of leadership behaviours.

The feedback explores things like:

  • Authenticity

  • Strategic thinking

  • Decision-making

  • Communication

  • Resilience

  • Empowerment

Raters are also asked to reflect on how frequently the leader applies their strengths and how effective those strengths are in practice.

Coaching

Who is coaching for?

Coaching is for anyone seeking personal or professional growth.

Our expertise means we tend to work with those who lead others. Whether that’s a first-time manager trying to find their voice, or a seasoned C-Suite leader navigating big decisions and change, coaching can offer a fresh perspective, a thinking partner, and a confidential sounding board.

In our experience, coaching is particularly impactful for:

  • Leaders navigating change, transition or growth

  • Managers stepping up into new or more complex roles

  • People who feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure of their next step

  • High performers who want to sharpen their edge (and stay energised doing it)

  • Teams or individuals trying to build confidence, clarity or resilience

In short, if there’s a goal, challenge, or moment of stretch, coaching is a smart, strategic tool.

What kind of challenges or goals can coaching help with?

The beauty of coaching is that it’s entirely tailored to the person. It’s their agenda, not ours. That said, some common themes we support leaders and managers with include:

·       Navigating big transitions (e.g., stepping into leadership, restructuring, promotion)

·       Building confidence and overcoming imposter syndrome

·       Managing pressure, stress or burnout

·       Improving communication and influence

·       Strengthening decision-making and prioritisation

·       Developing emotional intelligence or resilience

·       Leading through change or uncertainty

·       Building stronger relationships or managing conflict

·       Clarifying vision, purpose and leadership style

·       Creating impact as a leader without losing authenticity

Sometimes, people come to coaching not even knowing exactly what the challenge is. They just feel that something needs to shift. And that’s totally fine. We help them figure that out too.

What’s the difference between coaching and mentoring?

Coaching is all about unlocking a person’s potential - helping them find their own answers, rather than handing them someone else’s. It’s a powerful, focused conversation that creates the space for reflection, clarity, challenge and growth.

Mentoring on the other hand, is where someone uses their own experience and expertise to help guide another, showing them one possible way of thinking or course of action.

Coaching tends to be short-term with a targeted approach, whereas mentoring is often a much longer-term relationship that explores a much broader range of areas. Both can be powerful support mechanisms, highly valued and impactful.

We always say, a mentor has the perfect answer to your question, whereas a coach will have the perfect question to your answer – remember, coaching is about helping you explore and own the choices you make and the actions you take.

What can I expect from a coaching session?

Every coaching session is a focused, confidential space for reflection, challenge, and growth. Although we guide the session, it is always driven by the coachee’s agenda.

Here’s what you can expect from a typical session:

  • We start by clarifying the coachee’s hopes and expectations from our coaching interaction. This may include goals, challenges and context of their current situation.

  • We will ask powerful questions to help explore thinking, beliefs, assumptions and patterns.

  • We will encourage, guide and inspire the coachee to reframe challenges, consider new perspectives and move forward in whatever way that looks like, with purpose and confidence.

  • The coachee will leave with actions or insights they can take forward. This is us, so it will always be something useful, meaningful and real-world.

Sessions usually last around 60 to 90 minutes, and you’ll leave feeling clearer, more energised, and better equipped to make progress.

Sessions usually last around 60 to 90 minutes, and you’ll leave feeling clearer, more energised, and better equipped to make progress.

How much does coaching cost?

We believe in being completely transparent about our pricing, so there are no hidden surprises:

Individual Executive or C-Suite Leaders: £350 + VAT for a 90-minute session

Individual Managers and Emerging Leaders: £250 + VAT for a 60-minute session

Team Coaching: starts at £750 + VAT for a 120 minute session

It’s important to us that our pricing reflects our expertise and real-world experience, while ensuring coaching still remains accessible to the majority of managers and leaders.

We’re aware that some coaches charge two or three times these rates. While that may suit their business model, we believe coaching should never feel like an exclusive luxury or an exploitative upsell. Leadership development is too important to be priced out of reach.

The return on investment our clients experience; in confidence, performance, engagement, and results, comes not from inflated prices, but from meaningful, expertly delivered coaching that puts the client’s success first.

Put simply: we charge fairly, deliver exceptionally, and measure our value by the progress of the people we work with, not by how high we can set our fees.

How many sessions are needed – and how often?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. That’s the beauty of coaching.

Some people work with a coach for 3 to 6 sessions over a few months to tackle a specific goal. Others choose a longer engagement for more sustained support and development.

As a rough guide:

Shorter programmes (3 to 5 sessions) are great for tackling a focused goal, transition, or decision point.

Medium programmes (6 to 8 sessions) support deeper leadership development or behaviour change.

Longer-term coaching provides space to embed learning, shift habits, and grow as a person and leader over time.

Sessions are typically spaced every 3 to 4 weeks but we’ll agree what works best in terms of the desired outcomes, individual circumstances.

Will coaching actually make a difference to performance?

In a word, yes – if the coachee’s willingness and desire matches our enthusiasm and commitment!

Coaching has a proven, measurable impact on performance, confidence and leadership effectiveness. It helps managers and leaders:

·         Make better decisions

·         Lead with greater clarity and confidence

·         Navigate change and complexity more effectively

·         Communicate and influence with more impact

·         Build stronger relationships and better-performing teams

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), 86% of organisations report that they recouped their coaching investment, and 70% saw improved work performance, communication and relationships as a result of coaching.

But stats aside, we see it every day. People step into coaching sessions feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or unaware of what’s possible. They leave with clarity, motivation, and a tangible sense of progress and purpose.

It's not just about being a better manager or leader. It’s about being a more intentional, resourceful, and energised version of yourself.

How is coaching different from counselling?

This is a question that gets asked more often than you’d think. In short, the answer is that counselling tends to focus on the past, whilst coaching focuses on the future!

Coaching and counselling both offer a safe, reflective space with a trained professional.

Counselling focuses on understanding difficult emotions, healing past experiences and dealing with difficult life events, with the aim of improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Whilst coaching does look backwards at times, it is only with the aim of reflecting on the insight gained to use as knowledge moving forward.  On the whole, coaching takes a very forward focussed approach, with the aim of supporting others to set personal or professional goals and co-creating a strategic plan to achieve them. It is then the coaches role, to be a source of trusted challenge and accountability to maximise the potential outcome.

Is coaching just for people who are struggling, or can high performers benefit too?

Coaching isn’t a last resort, it’s a launchpad!

Yes, coaching can definitely benefit those who are stuck or facing a challenge. But actually, many of the people we work with are already successful high performers. How does coaching help them? It provides them with a trusted source of challenge to ensure continued success and to ensure they are not limited in their thinking due to the beliefs they have created in getting where they are. Effective coaches encourage and challenge the high performer to continually think past the end position.
